April has come into full swing and the fish are biting. There are several patterns on Priest right now. You can catch fish in skinny water to 15-20ft, smallies, LM, Spots and other game fish are on the move and hungry. F-3 took out of Long Hunter ramp and fished from 6:15 to 12:30. Fishing was tough for some and not so tough for others. Conditions: Cloudy skies, 10 to 15 mph wind, dingy water 55 to 58 degrees.
1st Place: Billy Harris 5 fish for 9.53 2 fish came off Sexy Shad Series 3 Crankbait and the rest came off Chompers Football jig, watermelon purple flash - zoom green pumpkin trailer Side note Billy had a 15" Ky Spot. Fish caught from 3ft to 15ft of water. Average about 6ft.
2nd Place: Rob "Big Bass" Kennedy 2 fish for 7.31 Big Fish Smallmouth 4.58 lbs His fish were reported on a Wiggle Wart Crankbait.
3rd Place: Carl 3 fish for 4.62 lbs Carl reports his fish came off a crankbait.

I nicked him twice last year, so send on the prize pack!
I thought I had someting for him Saturday, but the lake came up 3 feet last week in two days!
Hate to make excuses, but I was on the most solid pattern I've ever been on on PP (in 15 years!). I'd been catching 25-35 fish by myself with 7-10 keepers each time out on about ten different spots. Then tourney day came!
My fish did the great Houdini disappearing act come Saturday. Plus, my go-to bait went dead on me, b/c it was probably too subtle in the off colored water. I think Billy did some silly darn rain dance last Wed.
Just goes to show you'd better have lots of back-up plans in these deals.
If you can send me say, $5,000, I'll take the whole month of April off to pre-fish, and I should be in good shape by May 3rd!
All that said, the boy can catch em, especially on Priest. It's a long season, and I will get him one of these times. If the fish are post spawn by tourney time, I should have something for him.
Later-
R

I will have to admit the water coming up kinda saved my bacon a little bit. I had a good previous sunday on a crankbait, Series 3 sexy shad but not the confidence I like. I had planned on running and gunning the whole time. However thanks to the rising water it really pulled my fish up on the chunk rock banks with pea gravel bottom very near by. The fish were biting the crank very soft so I made the switch to my jig. My bitsy bug was producing several dinks, 14" or less so i switched to a bigger profile jig, Chompers football jig and it really paid off with bigger fish. I had a big smallie on but came un-buttoned at the boat. I knew when the water came up I had something. I knew which points to position on and how to catch'em.
So do I get a bonus SWL Pack if I win them all?
