I was able to get out both on Friday and Saturday and I guess had decent days. Friday I got out about 10 and ran up to the nuke hot hole as the tournament Saturday was taking out from that area. I fish some areas before the hot hole and nothing happening. So I went on up on there and at one point 14 boats up there. I saw a few guys out in the middle catchin some bass but not much. I wound up catching 6 keeper spots, biggest one about 2lbs. I came out and fished docks, rocks and other stuff without even a bite. I then went into reeds creek and 40 degree water and nothing happening. All my fish came off a custom made jig that I make.
Saturday I was fishing as a guest for South Fork Bassmasters as I am looking for a local club to join. We took off at Beatties Ford Ramp. Coming from TN that was a really nice ramp and area. We don't have those in Nashville.
My partner Kramer and I went straight to the hot hole where I caught my fish from Friday and 1 little dink was caught. There was 3 other boats up there and I didnt see one fish caught. We came out of there and bounced around on some docks, shallow and deep in the 60 degree water and nothing. So we headed down lake some and I finally caught a nice spot off some deep rocks in about 30ft water. We concentrated on deep water and nothing. Its 1:30 and I have one fish to show for it. I have only been on the lake 3 times so I had no clue where to go. So I just took in the conditions, it was partly sunny so I figured mud or clay banks should warm up fast if in cooler water area. I found an island that was right off the main river. It had stumps, brush and some rock on it. Water was 51 right there so those fish probably would pull up on the rock and clay to warm up. My 1st cast was another keeper spot. I wound up filling my limit and culling 3 times but threw back 3 other keepers that were small. I was basically then catching 14" clone spots. I wound up catching about 12 spots in that area. I caught all my fish on the same custom made jig with a watermelon zoom trailer. You had to fish itreally slow, they did not want it hopped or shaked at all. You just had to drag it until you tighted up on a stump or rock and as soon as it would pop off the fish would take it. Most of the fish were caught in about 6-8 ft of water.
I had 1 of 2 limits for the day for 7.8lbs and 2nd place. 1st place was 8lbs, also all spots I think.
It was a tough tough day until I hit that one little spot.
