I got up early this past Sunday and noticed it had rained. So I jumped in the truck and hooked up the boat. There is a couple feeder creeks up river on Percy Priest that will usually hold fish after it rains. I pulled into my 1st spot and my 2nd cast produced a 19.75" LM that went around 5lbs. Within 5 casts later I caught another good LM at 19.5". Both fish were fat but not quite football fat. I then moved to the other spot and caught 2 more keepers, a 15" and 16". I caught a few dinks. I fished for about 3hrs and had 4 keepers for about 13 or so lbs. My bait of choice, yup a jig, a jig and a jig. Go to www.midtnmarine.com and Mike can hook you up with the jig.

no biggie. You should try fishing some jigs. I have really had some good fish lately. A couple weeks ago I had 5 fish for 12.17lbs in 6 hrs in the F-3 club tournament. All my fish came on a jig. Watermelon seems to be the color of choice. It hard for me to put a jig down these days. I probably fish it 70% or more of the time.

My advice for you is to spend a day and do nothing but throw the jig ,it will help you get used to it ,the feel it has when going through cover etc.,there are several retrieves you can use,a slow drag works good for me sometimes, lately have had luck going out to ledges and humps and stroking the jig, reel down then jerk like you are setting the hook, works good with heavier jigs, sometimes they will absolutely clobber it like that ,the last one I use is the hop ,jus treel till you feel tension then like fishing a worm but do 3 short hops. hop hop hop then reel slack and continue try higher and slower hops and vary to 2 or 4 at a time ,listen to the fish they will tell you what they like, hope it helps.
