12/13/09 Norman « Result #2 on Dec 13, 2009, 8:25pm »
Well i ventured out today hoping to explore some new waters, specifically the hot holes. I didnt get out until 1pm and for headed up the river toward what I thought was the hot water areas. Not sure where they are my map does not show them. I went several miles up from Inland Shores Marina and found some deep water and shallow water to try and no luck. The water temps was 53-55 so I know I was close to the hot water areas but not exactly sure. Where are those areas or creeks? Anyway I did nto even get a bite up there so I came back down toward the dam. I fished some docks, points and brush. About 3:30 I ended up on a main lake point and noticed lots of baitfish in about 16ft of water mostly suspended about 10ft. I threw my little jig in and it sank about 5 ft and stopped, i set the hook and right away knew it was a big fish but it came unbuttoned just as quick. I picked up a jerkbait and caught a few small spots. I got stuck on something and had to go get it and noticed arches pined to a sharp break in about 10ft of water. I got my jig back out and commenced to whackin fish for the next hour on that little drop from 4ft to 10ft to 20ft in about a span of 10yrds. I ended up catching 15 bass, missing several more. I had 8 keepers over 14" but none bigger then 16". My biggest was a 16" spot. best 5 maybe 9lbs or so. Other then that one little spot I stumbled on I did not get any bites any other places I tried. Water temps was 47 degrees. I was surprised how shallow I caught some of these fish, most were 10ft or less.
12/6 Lake Norman 1st Trip out « Result #5 on Dec 6, 2009, 4:33pm »
I was finally able to make it out fishing on Lake Norman today. It is my first fishing outing since moving to Mooresville from Murfreesboro, TN. I got out about 10:30 after the frost melted off the boat and warmed up a little bit. I took out of Inland Sea Marina and not knowing where to go I just headed across the lake into a creek. I was surrised to find the water temps in the low to mid 50's, was expecting much colder. I fish dark colored flats 1st with a trap and small cranks, nothing. I fished a few docks with a jig. I moved over to the steeper side and fished deeper water around the docks. My 1st fish came out of 10ft water off a dock with brush piles around it. It was 14.75" long. I caught it on a hand tied finesse jig in watermelon, 3/16 oz. I moved around and caught 7 more bass, 5 largemouths and 3 spots. I had one spot that would go about 3lbs. Everything came off the same jig and brush piles. Not too bad for my 1st trip out on Norman.

Deals on Reels!!! « Result #8 on Nov 10, 2009, 11:13pm »
My dad dropped a bag of used Shimano fishing reels off for me to sell for him on his way down south for the winter. Started listing them on ebay tonight, also a handheld GPS http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2....82460&mpre=http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/hellabass
soon I hope. We put in a contract on a house 2 blocks from a boat ramp on lake Norman. I might have to head out some this weekend for a little scouting trip.
